Presented by the California Animal Welfare Association, the ACC brings together all types of professionals who work in California’s shelters to share issues and experiences, network and learn from one another.

The ACC program is structured to allow each attendee to select educational sessions that are pertinent to their role in the animal shelter profession. Unique to the ACC, the conference offers five tracks: Behavior and Training, Community Outreach, Field Services, Shelter Management, and Shelter Medicine. Attendees may choose from sessions which provide shelter-specific training, expose them to new theories and best management practices, or expand their understanding of animal behavior and veterinary medical treatment.

ACC presenters are experts in their fields and attendees will leave each session with practical information on how to address their communities’ animal issues. The ACC is the one essential conference for animal shelter professionals, from intake specialists to veterinarians.

The conference also features two exceptional Pre-conference Workshops** on Friday, May 17.

  • Advanced Interview & Interrogation Techniques
Explore trust-building techniques, behavior-provoking questions, verbal and nonverbal indicators of deception - and so much more. This in-depth full day workshop features Special Agent George Olivo with FBI Los Angeles. Read more here! Case sensitive information will be discussed, therefore, only active law enforcement personnel will be authorized to attend.
  • #AlltheCats Kitten Summit
From bottle babies to bottlenecks, #AlltheCats is starting from the beginning of catdom in this learning lab designed to guide shelters through the most hair-pulling time of the year: Kitten Season. We will break the season down into three distinct phases while guiding you through the science behind managing the influx and optimizing live outcomes at each phase. Hear firsthand from those who have summited Mt. Kitten when we highlight the nation's most innovative programs.

**separate fees apply for the pre-conference workshops
